Artist Recommendation

Hip-hop music (at least in the U.S.) has been this hodge-podge of beats infused with pop vocalists and catchy choruses. Clubs, dubs, and ”
Dranks”, are suffocating the airwaves AND the minds of the upcoming generation that we so desperately need to grow up and become contributors to society. Instead of turning this blog post into a social awareness message I wanted to recommend an artist who actually HAS something to say.

K’NAAN, is a hip hop artist hailing from Somalia. No amount of street cred, tattoos, or crews could discredit this guy from what life has bestowed upon him. If you know nothing about Somalia just know that it is a warzone country. His album is not a “thug” record, it’s not a “look at what I’ve been through” record.

That’s exactly what the album is titled.

Meaningful hip-hop music can be hard to come upon. This is one of them.

Here we go…out into the world. It all began to a Blog!

I know that Myspace has one of these…kind of. It’s a little less personal. There’s a middle man there…we don’t need one. I WANT to talk to everyone face to face, or in today’s world: screen to screen. We’re moving to a place where one device can connect us all.

We’ve all found each other there, at first ICQ, AOL, Xanga, AIM, MySpace, Facebook, and now: Twitter. Blogs however, are a totally different kind of monster. Something about it is a little less intrusive. So we’re going to try this one. I’m going to do my best and keep everyone up to date on what’s going on in my world. I’m going to let you all know about my life, not just the music part (which I’m not even THAT good at updating you all on).

The second post I’ll let you all know about what’s going on with my life and what direction music is going into.
