I’m not often hooked by an artist or band on the very first listen of a song or an album. There is something magical about “love at first listen”. The melody embeds itself in your mouth and the rhythm is in sync with the blood pumping out of your veins. For the past two months now I’ve been listening to an Irish band called The Script, and their songs do just that to me. A fushion of Adult Contemporary Pop/Rock with a tinge of Hip-Hop, the guys from The Script will no doubt be giving The Fray a run for their money in 2009. The album is filled with solid beats, hooky guitar licks, and smooth vocals. They’ve already spent the better part of 2008 climbing up the UK singles charts and I am crossing my fingers that the same will be happening on this side of the Atlantic.
Check out: “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”, “Breakeven”, “We Cry”, and “I’m Yours”.
