Not the good kind. I’m not really running on full speed. I’m talking about the “out” kind.
I’m a bit burnt out on music. Nothing excites me. I’m not going to complain about Top 40 radio, Katy Perry, Taio Cruz, Justin Bieber, the Music Industry, Apple or anything people that people might say is wrong with music in today’s iPod world.
I’m just not excited about music. What’s it say about our world when musicians have to be outrageous to get noticed? Formulas aren’t supposed to be a bad thing. Like in math, I’m supposed to know that when I plug X into a formula the correct answer is supposed to come out on the other side. Something that’s supposed to solve my problem. Not something bad or evil.
So what’s wrong with pop music? Are too many people using the same formula, or are they just using it the wrong way?
All right, on a serious note. There’s a movement going on right now. The stage is being set. Taiwanese all around the U.S. are rallying around this one cause… To get TAIWANESE written into the U.S. Census. As a kid I remember having to tell people that I was Chinese (which is true, by ethnic background) but I wasn’t from China, I was from Taiwan. I’m Taiwanese. I speak Taiwanese, I eat Taiwanese food, I love Taiwanese music and culture. This is especially important in these eight states: CA, NY, TX, NJ, WA, IL, MD, and MA which are supposed to have the largest Taiwanese population in the country. There are an estimated 1 million Taiwanese people living in this country.
Check out the PSA video below and don’t forget to check the “OTHER” box when you fill out your census this year and fill in “TAIWANESE”.
These words are affecting me even as I sit here writing this blog post. I’ll let you know what comes about from it.
“Go be that starving Artist you’re afraid to be. Open up that journal and get poetic finally. Volunteer. Suck it up and travel. You were not born here to work and pay taxes. You were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create. Stop putting it off. The world has much more to offer than what’s on 15 tel…evisions at TGI Fridays. Take pictures. Scare people. Shake up the scene. Be the change you want to see in the world. You’ll thank yourself for it.”
My brother was kind enough to pick up a 64 bit OEM copy of Windows 7 and I’m going to install it tonight…transfer all my games and saved files over to a back up drive and let it roll. I’ll be crossing my fingers…
This is not a rip on “Waterworld”. I actually loved the Kevin Costner flick, I know that the film is on the list of “biggest flops” in filmmaking history but I still really liked it. If you watched the film then you remember that in the time that the movie takes place, all land has been drowned by the ocean because of global warming and the melting of the polar ice caps. Human beings now have to live on floating cities called Atolls.
i09 has brought us the future of the American Dream, or the Aquatic Dreams.
An atoll, or I mean a Seastead
What happens when Somalian pirates attack? Will the Mariner come and save them to dry land?
I’ve been gone from this blog for awhile now. I apologize folks.
Don’t you hate when you become the things that you always scoffed at? The general public opinion of musicians are that we are lazy. We never get back to emails right away, return your phone calls, check our voicemail, remember your names, and write on our blogs consistently.
I always thought that I would never be like that. The more that I evaluate where I am in my life I discover that maybe I’m more that way than I think. I don’t do those things when it involves other parts of my life. I call my girlfriend back. I check my voicemail when I miss a phone call from family oversees. I return emails right away at work. But I find myself unable to do those things when it comes to my music. I have some weird musicianitis where I slip into odd habits.
Anyways, I’m working on Christmas album. I figured there’s nothing better to get the songwriting juices going than writing about Jolly Old St. Nick, Snow, and Hot Chocolate.
I’ll post lyrics and demos when they become available.
Until then, help me get better at my musicianitis. Give me a call and force me to call you back.
Howard Stern leaked an audio clip on his show of a tone deaf Beyonce performing on the “Today Show”. This audio clip is the board mix, which means it’s the feed that came straight from her mic before any alteration by autotune, and it’s the mix that is played through the speakers in front of the audience or the T.V. feed underneath the recording she is singing to.
This makes my head want to explode…

After thinking about it and listening through again…the claims that this audio clip is doctored might actually be true.
Here is the actual footage from the “Today Show” performance.
